In a nutshell, Mislav describes himself as a code writer with an analytical mindset, business ambitions and science at heart. He is a dedicated bioinformatician with a broad expertise across nearly every branch of omics. When he is not tending to his tomatoes, you might find him doing some data gymnastics or over-polishing a piece of code. His academic journey took him through universities in London, Paris, and Zagreb. During his research career, he worked on a variety of global challenges, addressing topics such as the spread of antibiotic resistance genes, microbial signatures of sepsis, evolution of SARS-CoV-2, and bacterial interaction networks. Mislav’s impactful contributions are evident in his numerous publications in esteemed scientific journals.
Karlo Skube, MSc
Business Development Manager
Karlo is the most skilled wet lab expert on our team. He worked in various aspects of mammalian research, including stem cells, animal models, sequencing, 3D micropatterning, super-resolution microscopy, mass spectrometry, and more. He graduated Molecular Biology at the University of Zagreb and even devoted four years to doctoral research at the University of Helsinki before discovering that business is a more exciting and fulfilling career avenue. Karlo realized this aspiration when he joined Selvita, first as a scientist, and later transitioning to the business development department for the North American market. His unique blend of expertise enables him to effectively communicate our company’s values and offerings. Beyond his professional pursuits, Karlo finds joy in traveling, meeting new people, and savoring the flavors of local cuisines.
Matej Vučak, MSc
Consultant & Software Developer
Matej is our well-seasoned bioinformatician and software developer with a special love-hate relationship with pathogen research and a soft spot for all things metagenomics. After living across Europe, he settled in Glasgow where he completed his bachelor’s in Molecular Biology and a master’s in Software Development. His career has seen him work as a developer for the WormBase ParaSite platform, and as a researcher in the DARPA PREEMPT program. He has wokred on the development of a rodent vaccine for the Lassa virus, helped to optimise arenavirus sequencing protocols, characterised herpersvirus transcriptomes and discovered several viral species! When he has the time to spare, he loves to read, make a mess in the kitchen, or get lost hiking in the Scottish mountains.
